MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS 2027 | FOREIGN RESIDENTS
The next municipal elections will be held on 23 May 2027. If you are a foreign resident and wish to vote, you must meet certain requirements and complete the necessary procedure within the established deadline.
🇪🇺 Citizens of the European Union
- Be registered as a resident in Busot.
- Be entitled to vote.
- Declare that you wish to vote in Spain.
Until 30 December 2026.
✅ If you have already voted in previous elections, you do not need to repeat the procedure as long as you continue to live in Spain.
🌍 Citizens of countries with an agreement
Bolivia, Cape Verde, Chile, Colombia, Korea, Ecuador, Iceland, Norway, New Zealand, Paraguay, Peru, United Kingdom and Trinidad and Tobago.
Apply for registration on the electoral roll from 1 December 2026 to 15 January 2027. Requirements:
- Be of the required voting age.
- Be entitled to vote.
- Be registered as a resident.
- Hold a residence permit.
⏳ Required period of residence
- United Kingdom: 3 years at the time you submit the application.
- Norway: 3 years on election day.
- All other countries: 5 years at the time you submit the application.
📍 Where can you complete the procedure?
- At the Town Hall, in person or on the website.
- Online, through the INE Electronic Office.
- By post, if you receive a letter from the Electoral Census Office. Follow the instructions in the letter.
⚠️ Being registered as a resident is not enough to be able to vote. Check that you meet the requirements and complete the procedure within the deadline.
